PLT Run for Maggie’s

PLT Runners

It was a glorious day for both the weather and the occasion as staff from Oldham Sixth Form College and The Hathershaw College came together as Pinnacle Learning Trust employees to run the Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run and raise money for a charity close to our hearts – Maggie’s Oldham.

An ambitious target of £5000 was set weeks prior to the run, with a justgiving charity page set up for people to make donations online (which can be found here justgiving – PLT) and on the day of the run, Sunday 20th May 2018, this total was smashed as the donations rose to £7713.56.

With over 125 participants all wearing the iconic orange of Maggie’s, team PLT ran, walked and jogged their way around the 10 kilometer course in Manchester. The crowds were out in force to show their support for those taking part, including a number who had been personally affected by the Manchester Arena attack, which happened just six days before last year’s event.

Currently, the total raised by the Pinnacle Learning Trust stands at over £9000! This will be a welcome addition to Maggie’s Oldham. Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks.
Built in the grounds of The Royal Oldham Hospital on Rochdale Road, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.
