Werneth Primary School Principal contributes to National Guidance Report
Werneth Primary School principal Jonathan Bell has recently contributed to a new Guidance Report from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) called ‘Deployment of Teaching Assistants’, by writing an example of good practice.
The guidance is designed to help those in education make decisions about how to deploy teaching assistants.
In Jonathan’s example, he said: “At Werneth Primary, our SEND learner profile revealed key challenges: a high proportion of pupils with English as an Additional Language, eligibility for Pupil Premium, and poor attendance patterns. Communication and interaction were the most common areas of need... Staff training empowered teachers to better deploy teaching assistants in scaffolding learning. Leaders continuously evaluated whether SEND learners were accessing the best possible teaching, considering if provision matched needs and identifying areas for professional development.”
